General & Preventative Dentistry
Precision Smiles in Roseville, CA provides patients with all their preventative and general dentistry needs. This includes everything from full dental exams, to small restorations like fillings, root canals and periodontics. General and preventative dentistry is your first step to a lifelong of good oral health. Be sure you are visiting us every 6 months for your dental exam.
For best results, patients will visit us twice a year for their dental exams. During the exam, we will take digital x-rays of your mouth, inspect your mouth for any cavities, decay or bleeding gums, and have the teeth polished and cleaned. These exams are crucial for detecting problems before they progress. Because of early detection, your mouth will be saved from pain and expensive restorations.
In the past, dental x-rays took a long time, were uncomfortable and exposed patients to a lot of radiation. Today, we use digital x-rays which use a small amount of radiation, and are fast. Your dentist uses dental x-rays to find any underlying problems that are occurring in your mouth that aren’t present to the naked eye. This helps your dentist plan a more effective treatment and detect problems before they grow too large.
Dental Cleanings & Hygiene
You might think you are brushing and flossing well enough at home to where you think you can skip your dental cleaning, which is false. You might not be able to see it, but there is most likely hardened plaque and tartar somewhere in your mouth that you can’t remove with brushing alone. This is where your dental cleaning comes in. During your cleaning, your hygienist uses a supersonic instrument to pulse away hardened plaque and tartar that can cause cavities, bad breath and gum disease. Your hygienist will also floss and let you know if you have any areas in your mouth you have been neglecting during brushing and flossing.
Root canals have a bad reputation of being painful, when it is the infection that is painful. The infection is what requires you to have a root canal. A root canal is a painless procedure where your dentist removes the infected pulp from the root in order to stop the infection from spreading. This, as a result, prevents you from needing an extraction. After the procedure, you will find that your pain goes away because the infection is gone.
Gum health is just as important as tooth health which is why we offer our patients all their periodontal treatment needs. Whether you have gum disease or have started showing early signs, our dentist can perform periodontal treatments to help treat your gum problems. Without treatment, gum disease can cause your teeth to start falling out which is why it’s important to be treated as soon as possible.
In the past, amalgam fillings were the normal method of filling cavities. Recent studies have shown that amalgam contains mercury, which can be poisonous to humans. Not only is amalgam potentially dangerous, it is not strong and makes teeth look unsightly. Today, composite tooth colored restorations are the method of choice. Composite fillings blend in with your tooth color for a natural looking restoration. If you have old amalgam fillings or have a cavity that needs to be filled, we can help using composite fillings.

A great family operation (pun intended). I have been a patient of Dr. Davey for a long time and recently had an emergency and the staff and Dr. Davey handled it very well for me and I'm no longer in pain. Tooth infections are a bear to deal with. Thanks again Dr. Davey and staff.
